Our Story 

Chris Zafiriou started Zafs Kitchen when he couldn't deny his burning desire and passion for cooking any longer. An obsession he has had since he was 10 years old,  his parents have owned the local butcher shop in Earlwood, NSW (J&V MEATS) for over 35 years and he has always been around meat and BBQing.

 

Growing up, Chris was always the go to BBQ man for family and friends whenever an event was being held, so he decided to turn his talents into a business and it has proven to be the best choice he ever made!

 

 

Cooking will always be Chris’ passion and he loves seeing people enjoy his food. This love of people enjoying his food, chatting, laughing and making memories around the dinner table was something he experienced during his childhood with his parents,  grandparents and siblings always by his side.

Chris hopes to ignite the same feelings of happiness and joy between family and friends who employ Zafs Kitchen to cater their events.

Our Story 

Zafs Kitchen was founded by Chris Zafiriou, a passionate cook whose love for food began at just 10 years old. Raised in Earlwood, NSW, Chris grew up in a family where meat was more than a staple—it was a way of life. His parents owned and operated J&V Meats, a beloved local butcher shop that served the community for over 35 years.

Surrounded by the rich aromas of fresh cuts and the sizzle of weekend BBQs, Chris naturally gravitated toward the grill. From an early age, he became the designated BBQ chef at family gatherings—an unofficial role he took seriously and wholeheartedly. What started as a childhood curiosity soon turned into a lifelong obsession.

Driven by that same passion, Chris made the bold decision to turn his love of cooking into a business—and so, Zafs Kitchen was born. It’s a venture rooted not just in culinary skill, but in heart, heritage, and the simple joy of bringing people together.

For Chris, food is more than nourishment—it’s about connection. It’s the laughter shared over a grilled feast, the memories made around a table, and the warmth of community and family. These values, passed down from his parents and grandparents, are the soul of Zafs Kitchen.

Through every dish, Chris strives to recreate those moments—ensuring that every event catered by Zafs Kitchen is filled with joy, flavour, and unforgettable memories.
